We build things that last.
Composed Studio is an independent software venture studio. We look for operational problems that are quietly expensive, the kind a team absorbs into its week instead of solving. We build a focused product around one, then operate it ourselves until the value is obvious.
We're not an agency and we don't build for hire. Every product is ours, from the roadmap to the support inbox. That matters to eventual acquirers too: what we hand over has already been operated for real customers, warts and all.
Operating principles
- Understand the problem before falling for a solution.
- Prove it small, then build it properly.
- Stay close to customers past the point of comfort.
- Choose boring technology. Save the excitement for the product.
- Run every product as if a buyer's diligence team arrives tomorrow.
The playbook
How we work
-
Identify
We go looking for painful, recurring work that bigger vendors ignore. Then we talk to the people actually doing that work until we understand it properly.
-
Build
We build the smallest version that genuinely solves the problem, using boring technology on purpose. It's easier to run and easier to hand over.
-
Run
We operate everything ourselves, from support to uptime, and we stay close to customers for longer than is comfortable.
-
Deliver impact
Once a product has proven itself, we position it for acquisition or partnership. The books and the codebase stay clean enough to hand over at any point.
The filter
What a problem has to be
- Recurring Weekly pain beats annual pain. Something that hurts every payroll run is worth more to fix than something that hurts once a year.
- A spreadsheet pretending to be a system The strongest signal we know of. It means somebody needed the tool badly enough to build a bad version of it themselves.
- Real consequences Regulatory fines, failed audits, stopped work orders. When dropping the ball costs actual money, software that catches it is easy to justify.
- A buyer who feels the cost Someone specific owns both the pain and the budget. We build for that person.
Why we work this way
The venture studio model only works if you stay small and move deliberately. We'd rather operate one product people can't work without than launch five they can.
Bring us the problem everyone works around.
If your team burns hours on work that software should be doing, tell us about it. One of our products may already cover it. If not, we'd like to hear what's missing.
